Gemotions

The gentle rhythm of the waves lapping against the shore soothed Leo. He stretched out on the beach towel, feeling the warmth of the sun on his skin. Beside him, his husband, Daniel, was engrossed in a book. The air was clean, the sky a vast canvas of blue. He felt a deep sense of happiness, a feeling of security, of being exactly where he belonged.

The phone on the towel vibrated. Leo didn't even want to check. He watched Daniel answer it. A brief conversation, followed by a sudden look of… what was that? Leo had never seen that expression on Daniel's face before. He went back to the book.

Leo got up to get them both some water. On his return he saw the phone. He looked at the phone and then at Daniel, who was again lost in his book. He sat down and took a deep breath. He suddenly didn't feel the sun on his face.
